In the picture above I used gold and silver both from the Stylecraft Special double knit range. The main colour is an ombre cotton/acrylic yarn, colour number 67 purchased from Agnes World Ombre Yarn www.ombreyarn.com
Total weight of lap blanket 1280g/4150 metres
Ombre colour number 67 in 4ply yarn = 485g/1800 metres
Gold yarn = 230g/679 metres
Silver yarn = 566g/1670m

Hook size 3.5 (you can use a bigger hook size and your blanket will be slightly larger)
